Kitchen Makeover

Do you believe in the power of paint? I sure do.

It was nothing more than a few cans of paint that transformed my kitchen from dark and dated to light and bright.




Not convinced? Take a look at the kitchen before...

BEFORE

 Truly the only changes made were removing the wallpaper and painting the walls and trim.



The cabinets, countertop and outdated appliances are all the same.



Holy stovetop, Batman! Honestly, it doesn't even bother me anymore. (Except when I'm trying to quickly boil water).

The door will be painted white, but it needs to be sprayed outside. Not gonna happen in February.

And, now I'm just getting camera happy...



One of my favorite changes is the window. Where the dark trim used to stop the eye, the white paint really allows an unobstructed view to the outside.







I bought myself some tulips for Valentine's Day.




Last year my husband bought me yellow roses. Glad he considers me such a good "friend." I wasn't taking any chances this year. God love him.









So, there you have it. My kitchen updated simply with paint. Were you already a believer in the power of paint, or have I converted you?

A kitchen renovation is in the future. When the 20 year old appliances finally bite the dust. I'd actually like them to hold out until my youngest is in school full-time. Mama don't have time for such a big project just yet.

I think I might be in love with my lighter, brighter, happier kitchen. Or, at the very least, I consider him a good friend.

    Hi Carolyn! That really is an amazing transformation when one realizes that you did NOT paint the cabinets. That would be a whole 'nother humongous project that actually is not even needed so much now. Hey, I love your dining room chandy...I think your idea (and your engineering contraption) to pain the sleeves was genius.

    I am in love with it too! It's amazing, the difference!!! I love the color scheme you picked to go with the wood cabinetry, the contrast is so pretty and I like how the warm wood balances the cool tones. And that staircase! Gorgeous.

    I too have wall paper that I oddly still like but also desire an updated look. Because of that I have been dragging my feet, should I or shouldn't I? After seeing your "after" pics I am convinced. My wallpaper is coming down! Thanks loads!

    Amazing the difference! I would not of guessed it was only a paint update. I love the color you selected. I love the difference on the windows! By the way, I vote to keep the door that beautiful wood color, it brings out the accents from the steps and the desk! I love the space you have too!

    Very pretty paint color on your walls, and you can never go wrong with white woodwork. It creates such a clean fresh contrast. Looks like you have a new kitchen!

    Your kitchen looks simpler than the previous one, but it’s nice as it looks refreshing. It feels great to have a fresh coat of paint in your kitchen, no? That’s what we did too the last time my wife and I conducted a kitchen makeover. The only thing we did was changing the countertop and the island. And from white, we had a mint blue shade for the whole area. It turned out fantastic, I’m telling you. I’m very proud of myself after the renovation. :D

    AWESOME! A new coat of paint does great wonders and I love what you chose for your new color. You brought out the beauty of your kitchen without having the dark colored windows overpowering the whole facade. Well, I adore your large windows and I’m hoping that I can have one of that in my kitchen too. I love how the natural light enters the large panes. Haha! I hope you’re enjoying your kitchen and I might use these pics as an inspiration for my kitchen redo. :)

    So curious also about the rubber sheet for kitchen floor… we have ugly brown cracked nasty tiles in our kitchen. WOuld love a simple look. It doesn’t wrinkly or curl up?
