Sandy, please send me your e-mail address so I can make sure you get that sweet pillow!
You won't believe it, but I actually finished a project in one afternoon. (Thank heavens for naptime!) My stairway gallery wall is done. Well, almost. I need to put photos in some of the new frames. But that's the easy part. The tedious process of hanging the frames is complete, and I am proud to say that there is only one unnecessary nail hole in the wall :)
Here it is...
Hope you don't mind the photo overload. I just needed to show it off to someone. I kept saying to my boys, "Let's all take a moment and admire the new wall." They just were not sharing my enthusiasm about it. Gosh, is it so hard to get an "atta girl?"
Here's a trick for getting a gallery wall done quickly. When you lay the frames on the floor to map out the configuration, be sure to put them in a high traffic area. Then say a hundred times "don't step on the frames!" to every person who walks near them. Trust me. It will motivate you to get the frames on the wall pronto!
Also, I cannot recommend my "template" method highly enough.
While it's a bit of effort to trace and cut the templates, it's so much easier to move the paper around and position the frames where you want them.
Just for fun, let's take a look at the overall before and after of this space...
Hope you like it, and if you do, can I get an "atta girl?" :)

atta girl! Love it. I have been collecting frames too for a gallery wall. I have an oval one and wasn't sure how it would look with all the square/rectangle frames. Turns out I think I'm going to love it! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh I just LOVE it. I did my son's wall yesterday. I had lots of extra holes, however I patched as I went along so it is all good. It was tough, and of course I did not plan it out like you or my husband did. Yours looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good. I will give you an atta girl!
ReplyDeleteYour before and after says it all and I'm impressed only one extra nail hole. That will be a hard number to beat!

I love the wall, Carolyn! It looks perfect! I especially love the round frame. And only one extra hole? You are a pro, girl!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Atta girl! I like it alot more than the first gallery wall you had. This one fills up the space better. I'm very impressed that you only had one nail hole that was wasted. Wow! I probably would've had 10 million holes in the wall if I was trying it. I think the template made all the difference. Thanks for sharing this project.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic. And I love the template idea - makes it a lot easier to work with the different size frames.
ReplyDeleteYour gallery wall looks fantastic, Carolyn... awesome job! Your preplanning really paid off!

Atta girl! It looks amazing! And with only one extra nail hole? That's pretty unbelievable! :)
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job hanging all the pictures. The way you arranged them is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! You did an amazing job and worked hard too. Well done! God bless x
ReplyDeleteThat looks wonderful. I am SUCH a slacker when it comes to photos.. you totally deserve an Atta-girl for the work you put into that!

That wall looks so nice and it just adds so much interest to that big boring wall! Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh....and "atta girl"!
ATTA GIRL!!!! That looks fantastic! I have a small gallery wall upstairs with no holes! Only because I didn't lay out a thing. I just started hanging those babies up. Call me a crazy woman! Yours looks wonderful and I like the mix of frames. It all just flows so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I'm also working on a gallery wall and found that tracing the frames first onto paper makes it 100 times easier! Just happened to see in this month's Redbook magazine they make the same suggestion. Great minds think alike :-)
ReplyDeletepure awesomeness!
ReplyDeletem ^..^
Oh! million thanks for giving me the clue on how to do a wall gallery. Mine is empty (as of now) but not too long as I found your idea.

The wall turned out so well! Love that round one in the middle of it all.
ReplyDeleteWow Carolyn, it's absolutely perfect. I don't always like the look of a gallery wall up the stairs but this is perfection. What do boys know??
