Remember my 2012 resolution to "control the chaos?" Well, I've been in major organizing mode, and the first place I started was in this room.
This bedroom is shared by my 11 and 9 year old sons, and let's just say I
never thought this room would be suitable for blog viewing. However, after spending many hours rescuing my kids from a future appearance on "Hoarders," I figured it was safe to let you in.
I painted and distressed this red dresser about 10 years ago, and I still love it.
Every drawer, shelf, nook and cranny of this room was cleaned and organized. Believe it or not, it's been 3 weeks and the room has stayed that way. It's a new world record!
On to the next room....
Great work! I have two boys and I feel like all I do all day is pick up STUFF. I love the dresser, bench, and framed map. What a great room you have given them to grow up in!

You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great room! You did a fantastic job, Carolyn...decorating and organizing!

This looks like a magazine spread. I love the red dresser!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, I love this room! I need to do some major de-hoarding, LOL. I love the maps, globes everything!

Hi Carolyn- it's so neat. I am in the middle of redecorating my boys' rooms and my son took it upon himself to decorate. Just posted that a few days ago. It looks so nice!

You go girl! I love their quilts and that red dresser!
ReplyDeleteYour home, covered in snow, looks truly enchanted. I'm sure you are going to have a fabulous life there. Just keep that in mind when the going (packing) gets tough! X Sharon
ReplyDeleteLOL "not suitable for blog viewing"! i love everything about this room - colors, arrangement, everything! wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteWoowwww!
ReplyDeleteThe room is beautifully decorated. I love the red dresser and the desk and the bed covers and EVERYTHING. But I really can´t believe how you´ve managed to keep it sooooo tidy. It looks more like a guest room!!!
I´m a mother of three boys (10, 9 and 4 years old) and I very much enjoy your blog and totally admire you.
I think after this I will invest some time reorganizing their rooms, although it´s going to be a tough job.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Love love love this boys room! I have tried over the years to do this with both my kids. It looks great for about 3 days, then back to their cluttered mess!!!! LOL Especially my son. Ugg. LOL

Their room is adorable! I love it! My 10 yr old's room is that same color scheme, but he is due for a new paint job in his room. I have started to clean out his old toys that he's outgrown too. It's a slow process. He doesn't want to part with much. Arghhh! I may just have to sneak them out. Your boys bedroom is so huge. Lucky for you. They need all the space they can get.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun room! I always shared a room with my sister growing up but it wasn't nearly as big or as nice! And I can't believe that 2 boys have kept it that tidy!
ReplyDeleteIt is SOOOOO hard to keep a boys room neat and tidy! Great job!

This is a great boys room and I love it all. The bench is great and love that red dresser!!! You must be doing something right if they have kept it clean and neat all this time! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable and very organized boys room! I love the shape of it and the decor is perfect! Good for you! I still have to get into my son's room at some point and organize it, I can see it is starting to flow out of control. :)

Great job...You are inspiring me. I'm so behind. XO, Mona
ReplyDeleteThat red dresser looks so familiar. I had no idea you even had it. It looks alot better than it did in my gold room.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! The room is gorgeous - I'm sure it looks so much better now that you've had a chance to organize it. Hopefully it will stay that way for a little while longer.
ReplyDeleteWow! My room doesn't even look this good, lol. This is such a neat boys room. Love it all!
ReplyDeleteARE YOU SERIOUS??? Your sweet boys have kept it looking so GORGEOUS for three weeks. Time for ice cream or a video game or something!!! I love your classic taste.
ReplyDeleteIt's so adorable! I always feel bad when I look at perfect boys rooms like this so I'm glad you prefaced it by telling us of it's former state:) It makes me feel like there's hope for my boy's room! Love the red dresser.
ReplyDeleteThat is a miracle!! You've done magic in there, I think!!
ReplyDeleteI love their quilts - and that dresser is LOVELY!!

What a happy, colourful bedroom! You have two very lucky little boys. I spent the holidays cleaning my son's room out too, so I commend you on a job excellently done:) God bless x
ReplyDeleteOMG! I only have ONE boy left at home (he's 10), and I don't think his room could ever be this neat and organized. Kudos to you!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great room!! You are an organized guru...especially since it is a boy's room. Fantastic job!! Hope you have a grand evening. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bedroom. Where did you get the quilts? I'd love something like that for my little boy's bedroom.
ReplyDeleteI love this room and had to laugh when you said you never thought it would be suitable for blog viewing. I have two boys also (13 and 11), and just blogged about one of their rooms TODAY, and we've been in our new house for 18 months now. The 13 year-old's room may never be blogworthy...
ReplyDeleteI love the framed map and all of the great charm in this room. Well done.
Thank you for giving us a glimpse of your boys' bedroom. Many normally expect a boy's room to be a bit messy. I'm sure others would consider this as one of their inspirations because you proved you can make such a room clean and organized. I hope that your sons are also doing their best to keep it that way.
