I'm loving the color (SW Comfort Gray), but I'm thinking I would like it even better against white trim. It looks so crisp next to the white of the stair molding.
I was a little concerned about painting the molding white, because of the dark cabinetry. But, so much wood can make the kitchen feel dark, and I definitely prefer light and bright. I went looking for some inspiration photos to see if my idea would work. Below are some designs that have successfully incorporated contrasting cabinetry and molding.

These photos have convinced me that it's okay to mix wood cabinets with white crown molding and vice versa. What do you think? Have you mixed wood trim with painted cabinets or painted trim with wood cabs? I'd love to know!

All our trim in the whole house is white. I wouldn't have any other color. My kitchen cabinets are glazed white and black. I say go for it you will love it.
ReplyDeleteI think the white trim would definitely lighten everything up and look great! I love white woodwork. Martina
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a mix and match girl. I think white is so crisp and clean and will use it wherever I can!!

I vote for the white trim too! Lighter and airier and fresher looking always wins out with me. God bless x
ReplyDeleteI have mostly white trim in my house, but a few years ago I painted my trim in the family room brown along with my interior doors. I liked it because I wanted a different mood in that room. I prefer painted trim over stained. I think it looks more current. I like changing things up in the rooms as long as they coordinate together. That way your house doesn't look so cookie cutter and has more interest. So, in other words, you don't have to have the same trim color throughout your entire house. You'd be perfectly safe in painting the trim white in your kitchen and leaving the other rooms as they are if you wanted to.
ReplyDeleteI have never had a house without white trim. It just sets off everything!!! Enjoy
ReplyDeleteMy homes have always had white trim throughout which I love since it always looks fresh, crisp and matches with any paint colour. I do think that trim should be consistent throughout the house and not change from room to room - are you thinking of painting out all of your trim?
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen would look beautiful with white trim, especially with your lovely new wall colour.

I think you will like it white. I think it makes everything look a bit brighter, lighter.
ReplyDeleteHave that said, your kitchen looks great w/ dark trims too. I love your new color!
I hope everything is great with you, my friend.
