Here's a little peak at what I found...
This rug had just the right colors... mostly ivory and pale pink... with a bit of blue and green. I flipped it over and am using the "wrong" side. I like the look of the stitching on this side.
I also found this portrait of a lovely lady. Again, the colors were perfect, and there's something about the woman that I really like.
Maybe I like this woman so much because she's my sweet 94 year old Nana. You see, I found these little treasures while "shopping" in my parents' attic. That's the best kind of shopping, since everything is FREE!
I shopped around my own house as well, and decided this tole tray would move in with the guests too.
Have you gone "shopping" in someone's attic or even in your own home? I'd love to know what you found!

It's nice to find a treasure trove, like an old attic or basement {or someone else!}. I like to move things from room to room but then I feel a big hole in the room I removed whatever piece from and I am out shopping for that space!!
ReplyDeleteI really like the rig and tray, nice colors and the painting ties them all together. Very nice!

ReplyDeleteLove all your finds, the rug, portrait, tray. They are all just lovely. I've just shopped our 2nd home and found quite a few things I just blogged about. Come over and take a look.

Hi Carolyn!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to discover your blog. I love that portrait of your Nana! it has such beautiful soft colors! Funny thing I have a portrait of my Grandmother in my livingroom. *winks* And I found it in my moms basement. Every so often I go through my armoires to see what's hiding out there (pack rat that's me!) and it's like Christmas all over again! Lol! Vanna/ your newest follower
Well Hello Carolyn from the Midwest -- your chaos is very soothing. I love, love the picture of your grandmama. Recently visited the midwest and everyone was so friendly! Blessings Terri www.morningdewdrops.typepad.com
ReplyDeleteWhat wonder treasure you found in your parent's attic. Isn't the portrait just grand!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to Potpourri Friday and helping to make it a success! I appreciate you and hope you will link up again next week!
I wish I had an attic to "shop" in! I love that portrait, how special to have such a sentimental piece in your room.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Mary Ann's blog and commenting on my pillow addict guest post. :)
What a lovely painting!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to go shopping in my parents' home but my mom is yet to part with anything and she's approaching 80! I guess I'll have to continue being patient :)
Oh, trust me, I would love to go shopping in the attic of an old house! It would be such fun! I haven't had the chance to do it yet, one day perhaps!

I love it that it has sentimental value, too. Great finds. Pretty grandmother.
ReplyDeleteLove all your finds, especially the portrait. I shop my garage all the time. Whenever I decide to organize, I unearth things I forgot I had.
ReplyDeleteI love that you turned the rug over...so smart. The tray is marvelous too. And you can't beat the price!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful portrait of your grandmother....what a beautiful woman. I just love the dresser how pretty. What a way to spoil a guest.

Ellen
